Parents everywhere are looking at their calendars in shock, mumbling to themselves, “Where did the Summer go?”, but the bright spot in the passage of Summer is the start of yet another school year! Wallingford schools are already gearing up for their first day of school, so let’s get right to the meat of it, shall we?
Here is a listing of important dates in the Wallingford Public schools for the 2011-12 school year:
August 31: First day of school (due to Hurricane Irene)
September 5: School closed for Labor Day
October 10: School closed for Columbus Day
November 7 & 8: In service days for teachers, school closed
November 11: School closed for Veteran’s Day
November 23: Shortened day
November 24 & 25: School closed for Thanksgiving holiday
December 26 – 30: Christmas Break
January 2: In service day for teachers, school closed
January 16: School closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
February 16 & 17: Winter Break (The 16th is a shortened day)
February 20: School closed for President’s Day
March 29: Shortened day for afternoon conferences, all levels
March 30: In service day for teachers, school closed
April 6: School closed for Good Friday
April 16 – 20: Spring Break
May 25: in service day for teachers, school closed
May 28: School closed for Memorial Day
June 12: Last day of school, shortened day
The first eight days lost due to weather (snow days) will be made up at the end of the year. Any days beyond that will be made up at the end of April vacation period.
