Wallingford and Meriden Begin Flushing Water Mains


Wallingford and Meriden are flushing the water mains!Beginning on June 7th in Wallingford and June 11th in Meriden, the Water Divisions in those communities will begin the annual flushing of the water mains. This is a necessary process in order to remove harmless deposits of accumulated rust and sediment and to improve and maintain water quality. Here is a schedule for the various areas in each town:


In Wallingford, water main work in the following areas will be done, commencing on June 7th:

All streets south of Center Street and east of South Elm Street, including Northford Road, Southwind Apartments, South Airline Road, Woodhouse Avenue, Long Hill Road, Kondraki Lane, The Towers complex, Pond Hill Road, Wharton Brook Drive, Ward Street Extension, Quigley Road, Northfield Road, Clintonville Road, Twin Oak Farm Road, Wildlife Village, Pond Hollow Condos, Pilgrim’s Harbor Condos, Toelles Road, and all other streets in these areas.

Water main flushing will be done Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5:00pm, weather permitting, and will take about three weeks to complete. Please check the condition of your water before use; some discoloration and lower water pressure may occur during the procedure. Water main flushing will be done Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm according to the following schedule:

June 11th to June 22nd: Section 11 (East Main Street from Bee Street to Preston Avenue to the town line)

June 25th to July 6th: Section 12 (All areas east of Pomeroy Avenue to the Wallingford town line)
