Alright all you runners out there, here’s a chance for you to get out and stretch those legs a little bit, have fun doing it and support a great cause all at the same time!
The Wallingford YMCA, along with several community organizations, is sponsoring the Fishbein/YMCA Community Day Road Race this Saturday, September 15th at Doolittle Park in Wallingford. There will be timed 5K and 10K races for competitive runners, as well a Kid’s Fun Run for grades 2 and under and Youth Races for grades 3 through 8.
There will be refreshment and water tables available for the runners, as well as free child care, shower and bathroom facilities, T-shirts for the first 250 5K and 10K runners and all youth race runners while supplies last, and the top 3 finishers in each age group of the 5K and 10K races will receive medals. Registration costs $20 if done by today, and $25 starting on Tuesday the 11th.
The Kid’s Fun Run is free to enter and will start at 10:45am, while the Youth Race begins at 11:15am and costs $5 to enter.
As if all this running around isn’t enough excitement for you for one day, stay after the races to enjoy Wallingford Community Day from 11:00am to 3:00pm. There will be plenty of things to do, including food vendors, family games, a magic show, face painting, an obstacle course, inflatables and more!
All proceeds from the event will support Livestrong at the YMCA, a free 12 week small group exercise and support program designed to help those affected by cancer to rebuild and maintain strength, endurance and function. So come on down to Doolittle park and help support a great cause, have fun and get in a little exercise to boot!
