Meriden’s Hubbard Park is gearing up for its 25th annual Festival of Silver Lights, and getting some new decorations for the event as well. Before the lights go on this year, some new animal displays will go up and a brand new 14 foot globe will be installed to replace the old one which was rusting away.
With over 300 displays using between 150,000 and 200,000 lights, this annual event is one of the most anticipated holiday happenings in the area. The ride through the park takes about 10 minutes or so and there’s a lot to see, so make sure you bring your camera!
The Hubbard Park Lighting ceremony will take place on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 with musical entertainment provided by the Meriden YMCA Youth Theater group at 5:30pm, and the official lighting of the park will happen at 6:00pm. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served as well. The park will remain open from November 26, 2013 through January 6, 2014. The park is open to the public and there is no admission charge. Please call the Meriden Parks and Recreation office at 203 630-4259 for further information.
